Fenland Clarion held another successful girls only evening of cyclo-cross racing at the Embankment. Each competitor got to race three times.

Lisa Welsh was the Under 10 winner while Boston’s Jael Maw took the Under 12 honours ahead of Ellie Barrett and promising newcomer Lucy Shaw. Mia Purnell once again showed her quality in the Under 16 age group with some strong riding from the front.

The road racing season is now underway and Clarion riders showed good early season form at the NCRA spring handicap event on the Rockingham circuit.

Some 40 years after his first NCRA event, Steve Clarke showed that he can still get into the lead bunch. Contesting the sprint for the line an unfortunate collision in front of him cost Clarke a few places, but he still finished a very creditable15th.

His wife Lindsay finished 22nd and Tom Stokes 25th.
