As an international greyhound protection organisation, we read with sadness of the charity race night at Peterborough Greyhound Stadium, (Vital Support for Injured Heroes – ET, March 23 ).
We understand that it is important to make sure that the soldiers, needing specialised help, are able to receive the treatments they need.
However, we are asking for the charities to find other sources of funding, and hope that they will be very successful.
Despite the wonderful efforts of caring people and numerous greyhound rescues, over 10,000 greyhounds, bred for the British racing industry, are put to death every year after failing to make the grade as racers or, when their “careers” on the tracks come to and end.
That’s why we are calling on the public not to attend dog tracks or bet on greyhound racing, so that this industry fades away through lack of financial support.
