Police have recovered the body of a woman from the water at Orton Mere in Peterborough.
Officers were called to the scene at 11.30am today (Tuesday) and are still currently at the area off Oundle Road.
Police placed a cordon around the scene while emergency services worked to recover the body, but that cordon has now been reduced.
The body was discovered by staff from The Environment Agency. The staff were carrying out routine work on the sluice when they made the grim discovery.
A number of East of England Ambulance crews are also still at the scene, and the East Anglian Air Ambulance was also called.
A police spokesman said it was still too early to say if there were any suspicious circumstances behind the death, and investigations were still ongoing.
