A woman received oxygen after a flat fire in Danes Close, Eastfield.

Fire crews were called at 2.26am this morning (Thursday, February 23) and the fire was well established when crews arrived.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel and one jet extinguished the fire.

A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke from the building.

Crews administered oxygen at the scene to a woman with breathing difficulties until an ambulance arrived.

The fire was caused accidentally by a person.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent an ambulance officer and ambulance crew to the scene.

A spokesman said they treated a woman for smoke inhalation and complaints of chest pain but that she did not need to go to hospital.
