The victim, a woman in her 20s, was driving along the A142 in her white Volkswagen Golf between about 4pm and 5pm when she passed the offender in his blue Ford Focus.

Upon seeing the victim, the offender followed her, accelerating and driving very closely behind her.

She attempted to lose the offender, who is known to her, by turning right into Langwood Hill Drove. At this point the offender overtook her and slammed on his brakes, causing her to brake heavily and almost come to a complete stop.

She managed to get round him and drive along the B1098 all the way up to Upwell Road where another car has come between them, all the while with the offender shouting threats and abuse through the open windows.

Sergeant Alan Boughen said: “The victim was extremely frightened and intimidated by the offender whose actions could have resulted in a serious collision.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police, in particular the driver of the car which came between the victim and the offender – if you recall being in the area of Upwell Road around the time of the incident and saw a blue Ford Focus driving erratically, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
