Werrington Carnival will be fit for a Queen

This month, the popular carnival and parade returns to the streets of Werrington, and this year is set to be bigger and better than ever before.

Colourful floats and displays will parade along the streets of Werrington on Saturday, June 25, starting in Well’s Close at 1.30pm.

The carnival will finish on the playing field at Werrington Primary School in Amberley Slope, where there will be plenty going on from 2pm onwards.

Paul Smedley, who is one of the committee members for Werrington Carnival said: “We have lots going on this year for all the family to enjoy. There will plenty going on at the playing field, including live entertainment and music, games for the kids, charity stalls and food and refreshments.”

The parade, which is being organised by Werrington Scouts and Guides, will feature a royal float with this year’s Carnival Queen, Daisy Crouch taking pride of place. She will be joined by Carnival Princess Kasia Tarver and Flower Girls, Heather Mckie, Holly French and Sophia Al-Sheba.

The girls will lead the carnival procession before presenting awards to the best fancy dress and themed groups in the main ring at Werrington Primary School.

Kirsten Barr, district commissioner of Girlguiding Werrington said: “The winners of the Werrington Carnival Queen, Princess and Flower Girls were announced by Miss Peterborough, who will be one of the judges of the event.”

A celebration fit for a queen, Werrington Carnival is set to be a great day out for all the family, so make sure you put the date in your diary.
