"Road, rail and air travel delays are likely, as well as stranding of vehicles and public transport cancellations. There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off."

The Peterborough Weather Watch website says: "An area of precipitation is expected to reach the forecast area around dawn on Sunday, and with cold air across the area, a spell of snow is likely Sunday morning and is expected to be heavy at times across the area, will settle and accumulate and continue through the day.

"There is a possibility that snow may turn to sleet/rain for a time, in the afternoon, before turning back to sleet/snow."
