VIDEO: Mum of eight who saw her house go up in flames '˜proud to live in Peterborough' after generosity of the community
Mandi Rennie (46), Dominic (16), Anouska (12) and Reuben (8) fled the three-storey property in Brynmore, Bretton last Thursday afternoon after an incense stick set fire to the lounge on the middle floor.
The family lost all their possessions but nobody was hurt, including their two Chihuahuas, Chinese Crested dog, hamster and goldfish.

Hide AdMandi, a trustee at Family Voice Peterborough, said: “I saw the whole of the lounge was on fire so I screamed as loud as I could to get everyone out.
“I got them out and collapsed on the floor.
“The kids are still struggling but are feeling a lot more positive about things now. It could have been worse.
“I’ve been overwhelmed by everyone’s support. I’m so proud to live here.
Mandi had cancelled her contents insurance before the fire to help with her finances, but she admits now that was a mistake, as was not keeping an eye on the incense stick.

The family were together on Monday for a free dinner thanks to Ibrahimi in Sycamore Avenue and the Children of Adam. And a huge number of donations have come flooding in after an appeal on social media, with leftover gifts to be given to good causes.
And on Friday, April 29, a pampering event with refreshments, tombola and entertainment will be held at the Parkway Sports & Social Club in Maskew Avenue from 6.30 to 9.30pm. Entry is £3.
