With a programme that showcases local primary schools, ‘Outside the Classroom’ is attracting delegates from as far afield as North Yorkshire.

The event, which will be held at The Haycock Hotel in Wansford on Friday, January 29 will feature a presentation from the head teacher of Werrington Primary School, Ben Wilding on the school’s extensive programme of learning outside the classroom.

Jill Foster, environmental education co-ordinator for the Peterborough Environment City Trust, will also be there to cite examples from other local schools.

Elaine Skates, chief executive officer from the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom, will open the conference with a keynote presentation.

The conference programme also includes an impressive selection of 11 workshops, each supporting learning outside the classroom in a different subject across the curriculum.

Raising standards, improving lives ‘Outside the Classroom’ is being co-ordinated by Cambridgeshire Environmental Education Service (CEES) at Stibbington Centre, where every year more than 10,000 children take part in an educational visit with their class.
