UPDATE: Police thank the public for their help in the search for Karen

Police have this morning (Sunday) thanked the public for their help in the search for missing woman Karen Greenwood.

The police search ended in tragedy yesterday with the discovery of the body of a woman in a field near Gedney at about 1.30pm.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

Police community safety officer Gill Finn said today: “The search for missing person Karen Greenwood has been concluded with the discovery of a body yesterday.

Saturday 23.36: Lincolnshire Police have confirmed they have found a body in the search for missing woman Karen Greenwood.

They have Tweeted tonight (Saturday): “Sad to report that officers searching for missing Karen Greenwood found a body earlier today near Gedney. Not being treated as suspicious.”

They said a formal identification would take place in due course.

EARLIER: Police are today continuing their search for a woman missing from Fleet Hargate.

A helicopter was brought in yesterday (Friday) to assist a team of officers looking for Karen Greenwood (50).

Police inspector Helen Stamp said today that concern is growing for Karen’s safety.

She said: “We will be continuing searches for her today in the locality of Holbeach and Fleet.

The police search yesterday included fields around Fleet and Gedney.

Karen, who comes from Essex, had been staying with relatives in Fleet Hargate but left the address at about 2pm on Thursday following a disagreement.

Karen left on foot without taking any money – or the medication that she relies on.

She is described at 5ft tall, of petite build, with shoulder length blonde hair.

She looks younger than her age. When last seen, Karen was wearing black leggings, brown long boots, a red jumper and a red fleece with white fur lining and ‘Jack Willis’ wording on the back.

Anyone with any information about Karen’s current whereabouts is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 391 of 30th July.
