UPDATE: Man in critical condition after car crash and fire on A47

A man is in a critical condition after a serious crash and car fire on the A47 between Eye and Thorney this morning, Monday August 8.

Emergency services are on the scene but there are long delays in the area which is being treated as a “major incident”.

Police were called at 5.23am today to reports of a collision on the A47 between Thorney and Eye.

When officers attended the scene a single vehicle had left the road and was on its roof in a field. There are also reports that is was on fire.

The Ambulance Service and Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene. A man has been taken to hospital with serious, potentially life threatening, injuries.

The road is currently closed between Eye and Thorney as a result of the incident.
