Highways England confirmed the accident involved the two vehicles and two men had been taken to hospital.

The A1 had been closed in both directions between the A607 (near Harlaxton) and the A151 (near Colsterworth) due to the collision near Easton from around 6.30am this morning.

There have been long delays in both directions and diversions were in place which in turn caused queueing traffic and delays around Stamford for much of the day.

The Lincolnshire police accident investigation is complete and the ‘complex recovery’ of the vehicles involved and carriageway repairs meant the road remained closed until this afternoon.

Lincolnshire police said: “The road is now fully open following the collision this morning.

“Our sincere thanks to the public for your patience and to our partners for the coordinated effort to respond to this incident.”
