Two seriously injured and five trapped in serious incident near Wisbech - road closed

A serious single vehicle crash has shut the A1101, Sutton Road near Wisbech this morning, Tuesday August 2.

Police were called at 5.52am to reports of a minibus, carrying eight people, crashing into a ditch at Leverington. The location is know locally as Gypsy Bends.

The road has been closed in both directions between Parson Drove Lane and the A1165 Little Ramper due to an ongoing investigation and it is unclear when it will be reopened.

Fire services attended the scene to cut five trapped passengers out of the vehicle.

Details of injuries are sketchy at this time. One man has received life threatening injuries and has been taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

It is believed another man has received serious injuries and five others have received minor injuries and have been taken to Peterborough City Hospital.

In total eight people are understood to have been involved in the crash.

Officers are working to open the road as soon as possible.
