Travel back in time to World War Two

Now in its third year, Baston in the Blitz 2016, taking place next week (August 6 and 7) promised to be bigger and better than ever before.

Every aspect of the event has grown, including more vintage traders, more re-enactors and many more World War Two living history displays.

An exciting new feature at this year’s event will be the live firepower demonstrations and battle re-enactments to be held on both days in the display arena.

Visitors will also be able to experience the mighty roar of a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, as fitted to the Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster during World War Two, being run up to full throttle.

This year’s static aircraft displays will include a Hawker Hurricane and a Messerschmitt Bf109.

The ever-popular live 1940s entertainment includes a return visit by Paul Casper as George Formby plus some of the UK’s top male and female vintage performers.

For the young at heart there will be vintage amusements and rides plus a traditional Punch and Judy show. Visitors can have their souvenir photo taken posing with a vintage World War Two jeep in the main marquee.

The high-point of the day for many visitors is a flypast by the RAF’s Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The event will be open both Saturday and Sunday, next week from 10am to 5pm. Entry is £6 adults, £4 senior citizens and free for children aged under 16.
