The A47 was closed in both directions this afternoon for almost six hours after a serious crash between a lorry and a van.

A man has been airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with a suspected injury to his pelvis and serious leg injuries.

The air ambulance landed at the scene and worked alongside fire, police and land ambulance crews after the van left the road and came to rest in a ditch following the crash.

Emergency services were called at 12.40pm this afternoon, Wednesday June 22, to the A47 at South Brink between Guyhirn and Wisbech.

Police said the road will remain closed between the A141 at Guyhirn and Wisbech until at least rush hour this evening.

The road reopened at around 6.15pm.
