All trains going through Cambridge were stopped this afternoon after the city’s train station was evacuated due to a security alert.
The lines were blocked in all directions while British Transport Police carried out a search of the area.
All lines have now reopened.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Our officers were called to Cambridge rail station on Tuesday, 24 November to reports of a security alert on board of a train.
“The call came into police at 12.47pm.
“Officers attended the station and carried out a full and thorough search of the station. Nothing suspicious was found the station has since reopened.”
