Wednesday, 3.45pm: A woman and a young child are in a critical condition in hospital following a crash on the A47 Soke Parkway in Peterborough.

The collision between a pale blue Citroen and a dark blue Mazda happened at just after 12pm today (December 3) on the westbound carriageway near the Fulbridge Road junction.

The woman, who is in her 60s, and her one-year-old granddaughter, who were travelling in the Citroen, suffered life threatening injuries.

A man who was driving the Mazda suffered serious but not life threatening injuries.

Police are investigating and would like to speak to anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles involved just prior.

The road is closed with queuing traffic westbound between the A15 Paston Parkway junction and Brotherhood Roundabout, with a diversion in operation.

Contact Sgt Paul Tanner at the roads policing unit on 101.

An eye-witness said: “There looks to be a serious accident on the A47 just after the slip road off Dogsthorpe roundabout.

“So many blue lights. At least two ambulances. Slip road closed, deadlock traffic and heavy diverted traffic through Paston and Walton.”
