Man airlifted to hospital in critical condition after crash on A47 between Peterborough and Wisbech - driver arrested at the scene

Emergency services were called at about 5.30pm last night (Wednesday September 5) with reports of a serious collision on the A47 near Wisbech involving a motorcycle and a Daihatsu Terios.

The rider, a man in his 50s, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Daihatsu, a 35-year-old man from Wisbech, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs, and has since been released under investigation.

The road was closed while recovery took place with a 50-mile diversion in place.

It was reopened at about 9.45pm.
