Police said one of the lorry drivers has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and was taken into custody.

The driver of the other lorry has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured.

Emergency services and highways officers worked to help drivers caught in long tailbacks during the sweltering weather with welfare checks and supplies of bottled water.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said there were no welfare issues with anyone stuck in the tailbacks.
