50 mile diversion around crash scene on A47 between Guyhirn and Wisbech - full details

A serious crash between a lorry and a van has closed the A47 in Cambridgeshire in both directions today, Tuesday September 25.

The A47 in Cambridgeshire is closed in both directions between the junctions of the A141 (near Guyhirn) and the B198 (near Wisbech) due to a serious road traffic collision.

Cambridgeshire police and emergency services are in attendance follwoing the two vehicle crash at around 12.30am this morning. Collision investigation is taking place at the scene.

Carriageway clean-up and recovery work is then expected to keep the road closed into the morning peak rush-hour period.Diversion routes are in place:

Road users travelling eastbound are advised to join the A141 southbound towards Chatteris. Then take the A142 eastbound towards Ely. Then take the A10 northbound to Kings Lynn, to then re-join the A47.

Road users travelling westbound are advised to exit the A47 some distance before the road closure, near the village of Elm. Join the A1101 southbound towards Outwell. Continue onto the A1122 southbound towards Denver via the village of Salters Lode. Then join the A10 southbound towards Ely. Then take the A142 westbound and then the A141 northbound, to then re-join the A47.

The diversion routes are both in excess of 50 miles long.

Road users are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time for their journey.
