VIDEO: The Flying Scotsman returns to Peterborough after 10 year restoration this week

The locomotive will be touring the country and will pass through the city on its inaugural run on Thursday, February 25, on its journey from London to York. It will also pass through Stamford and Grantham.

The outward journey from London Kings Cross leaves at 7:40am, arriving at York at approximately 12:30pm, meaning the famous engine should be in Peterborough at around 9am.

It will pass through again on June 18 on its way back to London, after making its way from King’s Cross, through Peterborough, then Spalding, Sleaford, Lincoln, Gainsborough and Grantham, before returning along the East Coast main line.

Restoration of the locomotive started in 2004 at the National Railway Museum in York, when it was bought for the nation.
