UPDATE: Police investigate potential arson after fire crew called to Peterborough house

Police are investigating a potential arson after being called to a house in Peterborough.

A shed at a property in Lincoln Road, Werrington, was alight earlier this afternoon (Monday, December 18).

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “A 1.44pm one crew from Dogsthorpe was called to a fire on Lincoln Road, Werrington.

“Firefighters arrived to find a large number of conifers alight which had spread to nearby fences and a shed.

“Using a hose reel, firefighters extinguished the fire and returned to their stations by 3.45pm.

“The cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact police by visiting www.cambs.police.uk to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”

Cambridgeshire police were called by the fire service about the fire at 3.30pm.

A spokesman said the cause of the flames was being investigated.

The East of England Ambulance Service sent a rapid response vehicle to the scene, but nobody required medical attention.
