UPDATE: Man suffers serious injuries after car leaves A47 in Peterborough

A man in his 20s has suffered serious head injuries after his car left the A47 in Peterborough and rolled into trees.

Police, fire and ambulance crews along with the Magpas air ambulance attended the scene of the crash at 1.25pm this afternoon, Wednesday May 4, after the car left the eastbound carriageway at Bretton Gate, junction 16.

Magpas Doctor Andy Lindsay and Paramedic Chris Hawkins landed at the A47 and assessed the man in his 20s who was trapped inside his vehicle and had sustained head injuries.

The patient was given pain relief, and the team worked with the fire service to extract him from the car.

The patient was then taken by the East of England Ambulance Service to Peterborough City Hospital in a stable condition.

The road remained closed while the car is recovered.
