UPDATE: Head on crash at Peterborough City Hospital after car drives wrong way down carriageway

A serious two vehicle crash has taken place outside Peterborough City Hospital this afternoon after a car drove the wrong way down the carriageway.

Police have now cleared the scene of the crash in Bretton Gate near the hospital’s accomodation block.

The collision, involving a green Mitsubishi Shogun and a blue Hyundai Tucson, took place at 2.40pm this afternoon, Tuesday May 10.

A police spokesman said that the vehicles appear to have collided head on after one of them has driven the wrong way down the carriageway.

Stagecoach tweeted to say: “#Peterborough Delays at Edith Cavell due to RTC at traffic lights, this will effect Service 2-3 and 4’s. apologies for any delays.”

The ambulance serivce sent two crews to the scene. They treated a man in his 40s and a second person at the scene but neither required hsopital treatment.
