Town Bridge closure in Peterborough to last one more night

The overnight closure between 8pm and 6am is part of the improvement works to Lower Bridge Street.

Closures were originally scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week with Friday also a possibility.

It has now been confirmed that the closure will also take place on Friday (March 17).

Signs will divert traffic along an alternative route which loops back into the city centre via Oundle Road, Nene Parkway, Longthorpe Parkway, Thorpe Road and over Crescent Bridge.

An emergency lane will remain open to ensure access for fire, ambulance and police vehicles. Pedestrian access across Town Bridge will also stay open at all times.

The £2 million Lower Bridge Street project is set to be completed this summer.
