Stretch of A1 at Peterborough to close for major roadworks next week

Motorists are being warned that a stretch of the A1 at Peterborough will be closed next week.

Works will be carried out in stages to clear vegetation, repair the road, install sign posts, install traffic counter loops and refresh white lining and studs.

From Monday September 17 the northbound A1 carriageway between A1(M) junction 17 and Wansford will be closed all week from 8pm to 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place for drivers heading north via the Fletton Parkway, Nene Parkway and A47 before re-joining the A1 at Wansford.

A southbound closure between Stamford and A1(M)junction 17 will be in place overnight on Monday September 17. A diversion of A43, A47, Nene Parkway and Fletton Parkway before re-joining the A1 at A1(M) junction 17 will be in place.

From Tuesday September 18 for four nights a southbound carriageway closure of the A1 will be in place from Wansford to A1(M) junction 17. A clearly signed diversion of A47, Nene Parkway and Fletton Parkway before re-joining the A1 at A1(M) junction 17 will be in place.
