The crash has taken place on the northbound carriageway near Wansford between the A605 and A6118.
As a results there are long delays behind back to the A605, some six miles in length currently.
The A47 is also at a standstill as a result.
There are reprots that six vehciles are involved in the crash.
Police are on scene but motorists are advised to avoid the area.
