NEWSFLASH: A1 closed at Stoke Rochford after collision involving tanker and car

Both carriageways of the A1 at Stoke Rochford are expected to be closed for up to the next four hours after a collision involving a tanker and car towing a caravan.

The collision happened on the northbound carriageway at Stoke Rochford just after 11am (Sunday, July 10).

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “We were called to a collision on the A1 at Stoke Rochford at 11.09am. The collision involves a blue Volkswagen Tiguan which was towing a single axle caravan and an HGV tanker. The driver of the tanker has been taken to hospital but is not seriously injured. The driver of the Tiguan has received minor injuries but has not been taken to hospital.

“The tanker contains a cleaning agent, which is not flammable and there is no risk to public health. The tanker which is on its side across the central reservation is not leaking.”

Firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear to free a casualty from the car. The electricity board was called to the scene due to exposed cables from a pylon

The A1 is closed between Colsterworth on the southbound and the A607 on the northbound.
