The man, believed to be in his 70s, was resuscitated by paramedics after he became unconscious and stopped breathing yesterday morning (Monday, March 20).

He was then taken by the Magpas air ambulance to Papworth Hospital. A Magpas spokeswoman said he was in a critical condition upon arrival.

Magpas were called at 11.12am and Doctor Charlotte Haldane and paramedic Ollie Robinson flew to the patient and administered general anaesthetic at the scene (providing him with A&E level of care) before airlifting him to hospital.

The East of England Ambulance Service was called at 10.41am and sent two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer.

A spokesman said the man was understood to be in a serious condition.
