A crew from Dogsthorpe headed to Oxclose in North Bretton shortly after 6pm yesterday where they discovered the trapped animal.

Fortunately, using small tools the firefighters were able to lift the hedgehog out of the drain before leaving it in the care of a neighbour, who will take care of it until it is ready to be returned to the wild.

The crew had returned to their station by 7pm.
