The branch fell in high winds this lunch time.
The street has now been cordoned off around the B&M store, while tree surgeons work to make the area safe.
A spokesman for Peterborough City Council said: “We are aware of the tree issues in Bridge Street and a team is attending. Amey are monitoring the situation and will respond to any reports.”
A yellow weather warning has been put in place for strong winds to hit the city tomorrow.
The Met Office issued the warning, and said winds of up to 65mph could hit the city between tomorrow (September 20) evening and Friday (September 21).
