A47 completely closed in Peterborough after lorry and van crash

Motorists were being told to avoid the A47 this afternoon following a crash which blocked the road in both directions between Thorney and Guyhirn.

Police, firefighters and the ambulance service all attended the scene at Guyhirn at around 1.30pm.

The road has now re-opened.

Police said the crash was between a van and a lorry.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.27pm with reports of a collision between a car and a lorry near Thorney Road on the A47.

“We sent two rapid response vehicles, our hazardous area response team (HART), an ambulance crew and an air ambulance from Magpas.

“One patient was assessed and treated on scene, and one further patient was assessed and transported to Peterborough City Hospital for further care.”
