The Targa 62 GTO is the first result from the Oundle-based boat maker’s partnership with renown boat designer Alberto Mancini and the Dutch owned naval architects Vripak.

The boat is currently in the final modelling stages with production set to begin this autumn and customer deliveries expected in the summer of 2017.

Andrew Pope, head of design at Fairline Yachts, said: “The benefit of working with external designers is they push the boundaries of what is considered possible.

“Alberto has brought a fresh approach. With the Targa 62 GTO, we have an exciting new shape. It is a progression and an exciting first step in Fairline’s future design journey.

“Similarly, Vripack has designed a hull shape that allows for maximum volume, which in turn has significantly improved comfort levels on board, as well as making the boat stable, dry and very safe.”

Embarking on a new boat design is a huge development for Fairline Yachts coming just six months after the company was created from the remains of Fairline Boats, which went into adminustration with the loss of about 400 jobs last Christmas.

The business was bought by two Russian investors and now employs 100 people with the first boat to be built by the new company rolling off the production line in March.
