The boss of Bourne-based the Larkfleet Group has been named as East Midlands director of the year.

Karl Hick, chief executive of the housebuilding and development company, the Larkfleet Group, in Falcon Way, was named overall East Midlands Director of the Year at the Institute of Directors (IoD) East Midlands director of the year awards 2015.

The firm also won the large company category.

Fourteen East Midlands directors were named as leaders in their business fields at the IoD awards.

Mr Hick said: “I am absolutely delighted for Larkfleet to have been named as the Best Large Company at the recent IoD Awards and to have received the largest Award of the day “Director of the Year” because it recognises the time and effort that the team including me put into making Larkfleet such a prestigious brand.

“It was particularly good to be honoured by the judges who in their own right have vast experience of the corporate world that we trade in.

“This award helps promote the company both regionally and nationally and will lead to further development of the Larkfleet Group in the future given its interest in housing and energy both key areas of the Governments policy for the future.”

Ron Lynch, IoD East Midlands regional director, said: “Of course, our congratulations go to the winners who’ve come through a very strong field of company directors.

“All our finalists have demonstrated excellence in leadership. But, they also have the personal qualities and business acumen that will help deliver growth in the regional and national economy.

“They show exactly why Chancellor George Osborne and others are referring to the ‘Midlands Engine’.”

Winners will go forward to the UK Director of the Year finals later this year.
