Peterborough United star Tommy Williams is used to thousands watching him on the football pitch, but he probably never thought his wedding would be seen by millions. But when the London Road left back took glamour model Nicola McLean (27) down the aisle last month, the watching eyes of the more than 100 guests were not the only ones paying close attention.
Among the crowd were photographers from glossy Celebrity magazine OK! a collection of satellite TV channel cameramen and three other celebrity couples, armed with marker pens at the ready to judge the new Mr and Mrs Williams' wedding for Living TV show Four Weddings.
Billed as the marriage version of Come Dine With Me, the 10-part series, which began last Monday, pits four rival brides against each other for the chance to win a dream honeymoon.
However, the series will end with a grand finale featuring the weddings of four celebrity couples, with the winner pocketing thousands of pounds for their chosen charity.
And it was The Posh star and his former I'm A Celebrity bride whose nuptials on The Dairy at Waddesddon Manor, in Buckinghamshire, were put under the spotlight first.
So, among the couple's many guests were East 17 singer Terry Coldwell, actress Sandra Dickinson and TV presenter Phil Turner, who put the newlyweds couple under the microscope.
"We were the first ones to have their wedding done, so they all came to ours. It was really good and they all told me that they had a great time," said Tommy.
"I think the celebrity finale is a bit more tongue in cheek then the rest of the series, but everybody had a good time and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
"Nicola was at the second wedding yesterday, of Terry and his fianc," said Tommy, who couldn't be there as he is at the club's training camp in Marbella.
As for the wedding, which featured across several pages in OK! magazine this week, Tom (29) was delighted with how it turned out, particularly as he was the one who organised it.
Set in beautiful sunny countryside, the occasion was showered in glamour with guests including Nicola's I'm A Celebrity pals Esther Rantzen and Robert Kilroy-Silk. Nicola's dazzling dress, designed by My Lady, even included a Swarovski crystal bodice and the couple's son Rocky wore a cream suit to match his dad.
Former Another Level singer Dane Bowers, a close friend of the couple, was also there and performed during the course of the day.
Tommy, who also invited many of his Peterborough United pals, added: "It was fantastic, a really great day. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it just seemed to go so quickly.
"The location was fantastic, we couldn't have asked for a better day."
Four Weddings is shown on Monday night's on Living at 9pm, with the grand finale to be shown in September. OK! magazine, featuring the wedding, is on sale now.
