The iconic locomotive will be at Nene Valley on September 28, 29 and 30 - the second time The Flying Scotsman has visited the attraction in the past two years. When it came to Nene Valley Railway last year, the event was a sell out - and staff are expecting this year’s visit to sell out again.

Half the tickets have already been sold, with a number of the more popular times having just a handful of tickets left. This weekend Nene Valley Railway held one of its popular open weekends, with families heading down to enjoy the early spring sunshine. Jerry Thurston, from Nene Valley Railway, said the event had been a big success. He said: “We had a really busy weekend, with lots of people coming along. “We had Thomas pulling a brake van, which only has space for eight or nine people - it’s rare we do something like that, so it was special.” The attraction is now looking for more volunteers to help out over the summer season. Jerry said: “We are always looking for volunteers to join our team - from qualified drivers for the locomotives, to people helping in the cafe and the shop.” For more information about volunteering, or to buy tickets for the Flying Scotsman, visit www.nvr.org.uk
