To mark its 20th anniversary, the Royal Voluntary Service’s Senior Stop Tea Bar will be holding a week of themed events leading up to a celebratory afternoon tea for volunteers and service users on Saturday, April 16.
Senior Stop offers a place for older people to go for affordable tea and coffee and for company as well as providing information, a place for ex-servicemen and woman to socialise, and running a community car scheme.
The centre is used by over 150 older people each week and is supported by 30 volunteers.
Events at the Cattle Market Road centre, off Broadway, will include a table top sale, raffle, cupcake day and a guessing day. Members of the public are invited to attend.
Loraine Peters, Royal Voluntary Service manager, Senior Stop, said: “This is a very significant anniversary for us. We are still here and thriving having survived a threatened closure a year ago.”
