Year 10 students from the school and young people from four other schools in the area had two hours to create and decorate their own rockets which then had lift off.

Nineteen rockets were made in total, all of them proven to have been a great success when they were launched high into the atmosphere.

“But it has also raised the profile of science-related careers.”

This excitement was shared by students like William Schelpe of the Deepings School who said: “It was a lot more hands on than just working in a classroom.

“It has interested me a lot more in science and has opened up a lot more options to me for when I leave school.”
