Serious crash shuts A1 for several miles in both directions in Cambridgeshire this morning

A serious crash has shut the A1 in Cambridgeshire in both directions this morning, Thursday July 28.

A police spokesman said: “Police are at the scene of a collision between one vehicle and a pedestrian.

The southbound carriageway is shut from the A14 at Brampton Hut, Huntingdon, to the A428 turning for Eaton Socon, St Neots.

The road is closed northbound from the A428 to the B645 turning for Eaton Ford.

The collision took place at around 3am and the road is likely to be closed until after rush hour.

There are long delays on the A1 either side of the closure on the A14 in both directions around Huntingdon.

The diversion is via the A428, the A1198 to Papworth Everard and then the A14 from Godmanchester,
