A decision on whether to build a Sainsbury’s store in Whittlesey will be heard by Fenland District Council’s planning committee on Monday with officers recommending that it be approved.
The application also includes plans for a 54 acre country park and health centre, as well as a petrol station, new roundabout and additional parking spaces.
The site for the eagerly anticipated store, which has received the backing of Whittlesey Town Council, would be located at Lattersley Fields, off Eastrea Road.
Over 300 people have also signed an online petition in support of the planning application.
Sainsbury’s won permission to build the supermarket in Eastrea Road ahead of Tesco after a protracted legal battle.
The committee meeting is being held at Fenland Hall in County Road, March, at 1pm.
