Road closures as Tour of Cambridgeshire comes to Peterborough this Saturday and Sunday

The annual cycle race takes place on Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5.

Along with an elite race, the event is open to all cyclists who want to experience a ‘closed roads’ ride - whether to safely race friends and family, or just to have a leisurely cycle on the roads of Cambridgeshire.

Saturday’s Chrono event is run against the clock over a 16.5 mile course, with riders starting every 20 seconds. There will be 800 cyclists taking part in the race against the clock.

Sunday’s Gran Fondo is a mass participation event run over an 80.2 mile course - although there is also a shorter route of 58.2 miles available for leisure cyclists.

For the fastest riders in age categories, there are places at the world championships available in both events.

There are still spaces available for Sunday’s race, which has a maximum capacity of 8,000 riders.

On Saturday the bikers set off from the East of England Showground and Oundle Road, Bullock Road, Washingley Lane at Caldecote, Washingley Road and Manor Road at Folksworth and Morborne Road at Morborne will be closed between 9.30am and 8pm,

On Sunday there will be road closures from the East of England Showground, through Caldecote, Great Gidding, Alconbury Weston and Alconbury Hill, Woodwalton, Upwood, Ramsey St Mary’s, Pondersbridge, Benwick, Farcet, Yaxley and Haddon, from 11am until 8pm depending on location.
