More than 100 people received free group hugs in Peterborough’s Cathedral Square on Friday night as the city played host to a unique event to unite residents after a devise EU referendum vote.
The event was created at short notice to bring a sense of unity to the city and word spread quickly through social media.
Organiser Becky Owen-Fisher said: “Last night we restored some faith into the people of Peterborough with an hour’s worth of free group hugs. Wonderful.”
Crystal Brook added: “Over the hour we must have hugged 100 people. Great thing to be part of and made lots of people smile!”
