Works are due to last until the autumn.

The changes will see the crossing in Bishop’s Road, outside the Lido, moved 65m further away from the Rivergate roundabout.

In addition, a second lane will be added on Bishop’s Road, leading away from the roundabout, for drivers turning right into Bishop’s Road car park.

Other works will see “improving pedestrian footways and crossing points” at the Vineyard Road, Bishop’s Road and Gravel Walk mini roundabout.

The footway on the cathedral side of Bishop’s Road will also be widened and designated for pedestrians and cyclists to share, while new LED lighting will also be installed.

There will be single lane closures and traffic management in place throughout the works. Full night-time road closure for re-surfacing will be in place in the final fortnight of the project in the autumn.

Bus stops outside the Lido will be closed for the duration of the works, with passengers directed to the stops on Bourges Boulevard close to TK Maxx.

The works are being funded by a £1.3 million grant from the Greater Cambridge Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise.
