North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vara has paid tribute to outgoing Prime Minister David Cameron.
Mr Vara praised Mr Cameron’s dedication, following the result of the EU referendum, and called for both sides of the debate to work together for the good of the country.
Mr Vara said: “This is an historic decision in which the British people have spoken decisively. It has been a hard fought campaign and I hope that both sides will now work together as Britain moves forward.
“It is crucial that Britain maintains financial stability, which is vital for us all, both locally and nationally.
“David Cameron has delivered on his manifesto pledge for a referendum on our membership of the European Union and he has served our country with great distinction and dedication through exceptionally difficult times.
“There will be time enough in the days and weeks ahead to discuss his successor. Today however is a day to reflect on our nation’s momentous decision.”
