Pipers marched through Peterborough as the annual Poppy Appeal began in the city.

A parade took place in the city centre on Saturday, with Royal British Legion standard bearers joining members of the Peterborough Highland Pipe Band for the ceremony.

Armed Forces veterans were also on parade for the start of the appeal, standing alongside city dignitaries including Mayor of Peterborough cllr John Peach.

The Poppy Appeal raises money for the Royal British Legion to provide support and care for thousands of veterans and their families across the country.

Poppy tins will be on display and collections will be taking place across the city during the run up to Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 8 and Armistice Day on Wednesday, November 11.
