The city council was shortlisted after presenting best practice case studies in a number of APSE Service Award categories. The council entered to highlight its commitment to innovative ideas that improve local services.

Councillor John Holdich, leader of the city council, said: “This is great news and it’s recognition of the level of innovation that our officers deliver on behalf of residents.

“These are challenging times for local government and we should be proud that Peterborough is leading the way in delivering the best possible services for local people.

“We want a city that offers the best opportunities for education, prosperity and a good quality of life. We would not be achieving any of this without the hard work of so many of our officers and partners. I thank them all and will be keeping my fingers crossed for a win on 8 September.”
