Peterborough and Cambridgeshire councils to share senior role after recruitment difficulties
Sharing the post will save £70,000 a year, with the person who takes on the role earning between £93,399 and £104,736 a year.
Council chief executive Gillian Beasley said: “Since both authorities agreed to share several senior roles across the corporate leadership team, vacancies such as this offer an opportunity for savings to both PCC and CCC.”

Hide AdCllr David Seaton had concerns, however. He said: “While I support this role and agree that shared senior roles make a lot of sense, I am aware that we’ve tried and failed in the past to attract recruits from what is a very small pond in which to fish.”
Mrs Beasley responded: “I agree that it has been very hard in past to attract good people to these roles, even with a six-figure salary on offer. What we feel may attract more interest this time is the joint role and authority between both Peterborough and Cambridgeshire.”
Members unanimously agreed to undertake the advertising and appointment process.
