The prestigious initiative was launched in 2014 by the Prime Minister to recognise and reward UK employers for their support and commitment.

The city council employs a number of staff who have connections to the Armed Forces. The authority also has an Armed Forces Board which organises several supportive events such as Armed Forces Day, a ‘Blitz Bash’ and various celebrations for veterans.
