Leading Brexiteers bring campaign in Peterborough to '˜ditch disaster and preserve Brexit'

Speaking from his constituency office in Peterborough city centre last Friday, Mr O’Flynn said: “I believe that the ‘Peterborough person’ genuinely represents the beating heart, pulse and soul of Britain”, an announcement that he made on the eve of the two-month long campaign ‘SOS Brexit – join the fight to save Brexit’.

“On 23 June 2016, more than 60 per cent of Peterborough citizens voted to leave the EU. Now, more than two years later they must be as frustrated and confused as I am at the mess this Tory Government has made of what should have been a straightforward and simple process to take us out of Europe.

“There is mounting anger among people here and up and down the country who feel that Brexit has been hijacked and turned into a complicated process which has frankly done the Government no favours at all.

“Theresa May is selling out Brexit. She has conned the country and conned her own party as well. Thankfully, my experience of Peterborough and Cambridgeshire people is that they are not so easily misled. We want to bring an assurance to them and show how they can fight to preserve the Brexit that they originally wanted.

“Peterborough, like the rest of the country, feels quite capable of governing itself. Yes, there are lots of issues affecting people in this city, not just jobs and wages, but housing, schools and public services; but we have one of the largest growing populations in the country and we don’t need the EU to tell us how to best utilise those skills.

“I do believe that we will get a trade deal with Europe, they would mad not to do so; but if not, then we have always been capable in these islands of trading with the rest of the world, the Commonwealth and the United States and China on an equal footing.”

The ‘SOS Brexit – join the fight to save Brexit’ campaign aims to bring back clarity and trust into the Brexit process in time for the March 29, 2019 deadline.

Six public meetings have been arranged, the third of which will be held at the Great Northern Hotel, opposite Peterborough Station, on October 29 when Mr O’Flynn will be joined by UKIP leader Mr Batten MEP.

“It is a great honour to have the leader of UKIP come to Peterborough to help with this campaign and to help get Brexit back on track, and I invite everyone to come along,” Mr O’Flynn said.

“I would like the people of this city to support us and hear how they can help fight to save Brexit.”

Mr O’Flynn will be joined by a series of guest speakers at each of the six public meetings, all of which begin at 7pm:
