It's now time to put Britain first

Meanwhile over on ITV, on “Love Thy Labour Neighbour;” Jeremy’s friends refuse to play with him ever again after he sticks the ball up his jumper and runs off home and there is pandemonium over on UKIP Gold too, when Nigel decides he doesn’t want to be the one to clean up the huge mess after his Brexit party.

The soap opera, Coronation Street, may be showing six days a week soon, but Westminster, the farce, is playing seven days a week, twenty- four hours a day, at the moment.

Except, to convert this stuff into any meaningful script we need believability and at least the façade of respectability; sadly, both have long since fallen away.

It seems every day our politicians behave more and more like characters in a badly written mockumentary and their every self-serving manoeuvre only seeks to undermine our faith in politics still further.

As they scheme and bicker for their own ends, we inch ever closer to the icebergs of uncertainty, with nobody it seems, at the helm of the good ship Britain. We appear rudderless, leaderless, drifting in a sea of insecurity, whilst those on board do their best to sink us.

May the merciless twists her collar and creates confusion and worry for working EU migrants in Peterborough when she suggests they may have to go home after we leave the EU; Hammond, her organ of doom, just re-enforces the uncertainty for thousands who are here legally and who have contributed already to the British coffers.

The Labour Party have promised to protect those from the EU who are already here, but their disarray is only matched by their capacity for self- preservation and let’s face it, a party in opposition could promise a winning England football team if they wanted to; they don’t actually have to deliver on it.

By the way has anybody heard from tiny Tim? No, me neither.

A vacuum is being created by inaction and our city and our country cannot wait three months for somebody to come up with a plan, by that time, something will have filled the void and we may not like what it is.

Some have called for a general election and others have asked for a second referendum but I don’t think either are practical or worthwhile right now.

This is an incredibly important moment for Britain and it must not be jeopardised by in-fighting and party politics.

It is time for all sides to come together and perhaps form some sort of unity government with everyone concerned putting their own interests to one side for the sake of the nation.

Those that helped bring us to this point should not be allowed to just walk away and leave somebody else to pick up the pieces.

David Cameron, Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and others, have a duty to ensure that this country is left in safe hands, after all, they campaigned for this referendum.

Now is the time for action, now is the time for our politicians to get over themselves and put Britain first.
